Fascinating Bazaars

IMG_1283A fascinating walk or drive through the old markets of Pune… experience a melange of sights, colours, sounds and smells!  An amazing non-mall shopping experience!  Clothes, bags, costume jewellery, art and craft… all available at a bargain!

Visit the Mandai, officially known as Mahathma Phule Mandai, which is the biggest fresh fruit and vegetable market in Pune city. It is located in heart of Pune  in Shukrawar Peth area.  Because of its location this place is often used for local meetings, conferences, and is the starting point for the Ganesh festival procession. The structure of the market is such that it is eight sided and has 8 ways which lead you out from the centre of the market.

Mandai is located next to Tulsi Baug which is a quaint shopping area within a quadrangle. One can find metal ware and other household and pooja items for Hindu worship. The market was built by the British government during the Indian pre-independence era. Tulsi Baug gets its name from the Tulsi Baug Wada. Located in this area is a famous temple of Lord Ram, Ganpati and Shankar, dating back to the Peshwa era.

Apart from this, we will arrange for you to visit other shopping areas around Pune, to experience the vibrancy and palpable energy that makes India such an adventure!  We arrange special auto rickshaw and motorcycle rides through this bustling metropolis… experience and live the everyday life of a native, just for the day!
